 Day 3

The CREC is closed today and tomorrow, so it was a home workout day. Thurmond's program requires 45-60 min cardio at 65% of one's max heart rate. According to Thurmond's book, that is a hr of 122 for me. An alternative online calculation gave 126. That is actually pretty low, I thought. Yesterday, I did an hour on the tredmill using the heart rate control program at 122. That 122 felt pretty low and I could've walked for at least another hour (or more). But I'm really trying to follow the program to the letter...

Thurmond's book says for my body type (B, inverted triangel) to eat a serving of carbs before working out. Either the workout's preceeding carb serving or 1/2 cup of brown rice. I decided to start the day with a workout, but breakfast contains no carbs. Brown rice it was!

I did all the steps of certain indoors walking tap while watching one of my favorite programs - "The first 48" on A&E. I wore my heart rate monitor to make sure I was working hard enough. The tv show is an hour long and I matched, knee lifted, kicked, punched, and side stepped the whole time.

Pre-workout:
1/2 cup brown rice w/ Splenda + cinnamon

Breakfast:
1 serving homemade meringue cookies
berry smoothie

Midmorning snack:
6oz soy yogurt
1 cup broccoli

Lunch:
3oz grilled chicken
1 cup broccoli

Midafternoon snack:
3oz tuna
1 cup spinach

Dinner:
2oz grilled chicken
1 cup green beans
1/2 cup brown rice + homemade salsa
1/2 grapefruit + splenda

During the last 3 days, I have stuck to the 12 glasses of water a day. That is a lot of water! I'm always in the bathroom. I've been getting up twice in the night to go! But, I'm drinking it down. Herbal tea can be counted as part of those 12 glasses, so I've been drinking mint tea after meals.

I don't know if I'm in denial, but I like the program so far. Probably because I'm eating every 3 hours!

 Day 2

Today was easier to follow Thurmond's 5 small meal plan. Yesterday, I had to double up, combining snacks with the next meal. Today...

Breakfast:
1/2 cup scambled egg white
1/2 grapefruit

Midmorning snack:
6oz soy yogurt
1 cup spinach + cucumber dressing

Lunch:
2 oz orange-garlic chicken
1.5 cups mixed vegetables
1/2 brown rice

Midafternoon snack:
3oz tuna + spinach + cucumber dressing

(For a workout, I went to the CREC and walked on a tredmill for an hour)

Dinner:
2oz chicken + homemade salsa
1/2 cup homemade Spanish rice
berry smoothie

I've only had 6oz of coffee today - not enough according to my pounding head. I'm going to crack open a sugar free energy drink!

In regards to the gym...why are there mirrors and reflexive windows? I know I'm fat, I don't need to see it while working out!

Day 1 of Michael Thurmond's "6 Day Body Makeover"

Like my friend over at http://flab2fabfat2phat.blogstream.com/ I lost a lot of weight on WW. Sixty pounds to be exact! The past year brough minimal workouts, lots of food, and 20lbs! Well, I'm getting off the fat train before I can't get into anything in my closet!

I wish I was brave enough to put my weight down, but I don't even want to look at it. I'm going to weigh myself after 10 days on Thurmond's program (maximum time allowed) and face the music then.

So! Day one! Here is what I ate:

Breakfast
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 cup mixed berries + 1 cup aloe vera juice + splenda + hemp protein powder = berry smoothie

Lunch
2 cups raw spinach + homemade cucumber dressing
5oz grilled lean turkey

Dinner
1 cup broccoli
2.5oz grilled chicken w/ Cuban marinade
1/2 homemade brown rice w/ fresh onion & tomato paste
1/2 grapefruit

After dinner, I did the a 3 mile walk away the lbs tape.

I also drank 9 glasses of water, 3 glasses peppermint tea, and fresh homemade lemon juice (about 6oz).
